DFM Review on
Every Project
What Is Design forManufacturability?
DFM means reviewing your design against real-world factory constraints before you invest in tooling. The goal: make your part cheaper to produce, faster to manufacture, and better in quality.
At ZAK, this isn’t an optional step. It’s how every project begins.
"Fixing a design on screen costs nothing — but fixing it in steel costs everything."
Without DFM Review
- Tooling rework after failed production trials
- 2–4 weeks added lead time per design revision
- Material waste from over-specified designs
- Quality inconsistencies from hard-to-manufacture features
- Higher per-part cost due to unnecessary complexity
With ZAK's Engineering Support
- Issues caught before tooling investment begins
- Optimized designs that reduce material use and process steps
- Fewer revision cycles — faster time to production
- Higher first-pass yield and consistent part quality
- Lower total project cost from day one
Engineering Support That Covers Every Stage
From first sketch to full-rate production, our engineers are involved at every key decision point.

Your Engineers Talk Directly to Our Engineers
At most manufacturers, your questions travel through a sales team before reaching the factory floor. At ZAK, you talk directly to the engineer reviewing your design — the same person who will design the tooling and oversee your production.
- 12 dedicated mould design and DFM review engineers
- Average 11 years of industry experience per engineer
- AutoForm simulation specialists for complex forming analysis
- English direct communication supported
- Video conferencing, screen sharing, and factory tours available
What Our Clients Say About Our Support
FAQ
Engineering & DFM Questions Answered
Still have questions? Our engineers answer technical queries directly.
Is the DFM analysis really free?
Yes. Every project submitted to ZAK receives a free DFM review. No obligation to proceed, no hidden fees.
How long does a DFM review take?
Standard sheet metal and stamping designs: within 24 hours. Complex assemblies with welding and finishing: 2–3 business days.
What information do I need to start a DFM review?
A CAD file or drawing is enough to start. For more detailed feedback, include your application, target quantity, and material preferences.
Can you help if I only have a concept or rough sketch?
Yes. Send us a sketch, a photo, or even a written description. We’ll develop it into a production-ready design.
Do you use forming simulation software?
Yes. We use AutoForm to simulate stamping and deep-drawing, predicting thinning, springback, and cracking before any tooling is cut, reducing the risk of costly modifications.
Can I speak directly with the engineer reviewing my design?
Yes. You communicate directly with the engineer assigned to your project — via video call, screen share, or email.
What is the difference between DFM and value engineering?
DFM happens before production: making a design manufacturable and cost-effective. Value engineering happens during production: reducing cost and improving quality on an active run. ZAK provides both.
Will you sign an NDA before reviewing my design?
Yes. We sign NDAs before receiving any proprietary information. Request one before uploading, it’s standard practice at ZAK, not an optional extra.
